As far as I am concerned, the constant
0x1.0p-99999999999999999999999999999999
is wildly out of spec, and the fact that one of the implementations
happens to give something that is intuitively acceptable is
a piece of luck to which you are not entitled.
The discussion degenerated into weak jokes, true, but your "parsing bug"
was no less frivolous. Everybody knows that exponents are quite small
integers.
