`.png` would be better because of it's advanced transparency support
(semi-transparency). Another option would be `.svg`. Besides, most
`.gif` files on lua.org don't even make use of the single transparency
that the `.gif` format offers, though understandably so, since they
wouldn't look so good without semi-transparency.
