Why is Lua's % better than C's?

Hi List,

I remember once seeing a paper or something about why Lua's % is better 
than C's but I can't seem to find it again?

I like Lua's % better than C's, and I want this piece of software to 
support Lua's %. (It currently has no %, so this is fine.)
For that, it would be nice to have something to back up my claims with.
