- Subject: Google Summer of Code 2015 - Lua projects

Some years ago I wrote a (Lua) script to scan the project ideas pages
of organisations that were accepted into the Google Summer of Code
programme.
If you aren't familiar with Google Summer of Code, they explain it
best: https://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/document/show/gsoc_program/google/gsoc2015/about_page
I've re-run my script for this year's organisations (which were
announced yesterday). These organisations were highlighted as having
Lua-related project ideas:
- CERN SFT:
http://ph-dep-sft.web.cern.ch/article/175948
- Interactive Spaces:
http://www.interactive-spaces.org/home/google-summer-of-code-2015
- LabLua:
http://www.lua.inf.puc-rio.br/gsoc/ideas2015.html
- Nmap Security Scanner:
http://nmap.org/soc/
- Open Source Computer Vision Library (OpenCV):
http://code.opencv.org/projects/opencv/wiki/GSoC_2015
- Rspamd spam filtering system:
https://rspamd.com/ideas.html
- The MacPorts Project:
https://trac.macports.org/wiki/SummerOfCode
- The Visualization Toolkit:
http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VTK/GSoC_2015
- Tux4Kids:
https://code.google.com/p/google-summer-of-code-2015-tux4kids/wiki/IdeasList
This list was automatically generated, I don't guarantee that it's
complete or that it contains no false positives.
Student applications open on 16th March, so if you are a student and
want to work on open-source Lua code over the summer (and get paid for
it!) it would be wise to start looking for projects that interest you
now, and get talking with your potential mentors as early as possible.
If you decide to apply, best of luck!
Regards,
Matthew
PS. The XMPP Standards Foundation was also accepted, although we have
no project ideas for Prosody on the ideas page. If you're interested
in working with XMPP and Lua over the summer and have ideas for a
project, feel free to contact me.
