I actually had just the same problem. In Lua 5.1 the VM was just a 
switch case, and in 5.2 the makros were introduced.
I wonder what the advantage of those makros are.
It also breaks the Eclipse CDT indexer, where you now you now have to go 
through the makro expansion to reach the symbols.
