You have installed gobject-introspection runtime, but to compile 
against it, the appropriate -dev package has to be installed.  Last 
time I checked, it was called libgirepository-1.0-dev on debian-based 
systems.

I'm not sure about ubunutu, but debian also packages lgi-0.6.2, so 
in case that you don't plan to compile lgi youselves, 'apt get install 
lgi' might be everything you need.
