purpose of lua

Hi All,

I am new with lua. Does lua suitable for Linux Server Administration 
tasks? Actually we are running isp environments in which we using couple 
of linux servers so for that do we use lua for automation of 
administration tasks?

Do i use lua for squid url_rewriter job?

Kindly assist me to resolve my confusion with lua. Please provide any 
tutorial link / document for the same.
