It seems you are correct. The Lua release 5.1.4 doesn't abuse the
'func' variable. My apologies.
FYI: The offender in question is the latest of eLua. Specifically, I
tracked it down to the Lua Tiny RAM patch as introduced in
and on this newsgroup at
