Hi,
In the spirit of openness, I thought I'd best let you all know what was
happening in the past week.
The server on which the Lua sites and services[*] are hosted had a bit of a fit
and threw one of its RAID discs and proceeded to have a lot of issues with
large processes causing out-of-memory situations. This caused a lot of
slowness for the websites and the mail system. Last night at around 22:00 UTC
we rebooted the machine and then begain the RAID rebuild. This would have
caused more slowness for around 5 hours until it was complete.
The system is now back to 100% and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
As an aside, I also discovered that Earthlink had decided to block our outgoing
MX IP address for some reason. I have requested that be unblocked and mail
delivery should resume for Earthlink customers (such as those of you with
@mindspring.com addresses).
Regards,
Daniel.
