It's ironic then that I borrowed the idea (and most of the Makefile) 
from LHF's lpack library (admittedly you can define USE_GLOBALS instead 
to make lpack install bpack and bunpack, but then that's still "touching 
standard namespaces".
I'll take this into consideration though.
