So, I don't pretend to understand it, but I made a fresh project and
chose the export setting instead of the empty setting and went through
piece by piece to make sure stuff was working and not it does for the
most part.  AFAICT, there are no differences in the project settings
between this new one and my old one, so go figure.  The one thing I'm
having trouble with still is a templated vector class exporting its
symbols, but everything else is fine.  Thanks for the responses.
