It seems that I can. I am testing with a number of DLL
using /MT but still dynamically link with lua5.1.dll.
So I believe strings should have no problem as they
would be handled by the lua5.1.dll where the VM lives.

The only catch are those FILE * and fileno() that
cannot be passed around.
