In "Against Intellectual Monopoly" by Michele Boldrin and David K. Levine, Lua is mentioned in Chapter 2, page 19-20 in the one-file PDF download:

"... and four of the other widely used scripting languages, Lua, Python, Ruby, and Tcl are also open source."

In a misleading way, the direct search at Google brings a link to a
chapter two (http://www.dklevine.com/papers/ip.ch2.pdf ) that does not
contain this mention.
