building toluaxx in VC

I have unsuccesfully tried to build toluaxx using VC Express 2005 
several times. When I run nmake I get this error

                      config(32) : fatal error U1001: syntax error : 
illegal character '.' in macro
Stop. 


I have followed building instructions, moved files, edited config, but 
always get the same. Can somebody give me a help with this? My project 
development is stopped until I can link tolua++ in both linux and windows.
