Due to some strange error my news-reader downloaded every message
posted in this list since 1997. So this is one of the earliest

Though I'm not a language expert, I would say that Lua the language
is pretty much perfect -- at least, very difficult to change without
detracting from its elegant design, and probably breaking a whole load
of existing code.

It seems that things didn't change much from '97 - I discovered Lua
when it was at 5.0.1 and frankly, if I need to answer the same question,
I'll give the very same same answer! So big thank you to Lua authors
who somehow managed to keep the language elegant although all the great
developments in its history.
