You have some intersting ideas, but I do think your 1 argument about
the : operator as some kind of standard isn't all that convincing.
Plenty of mainstream languages like Javascript and Obective-C have
other syntax for calling methods beyond the '.'.  To me it's more
about what the community using the language prefers as a "standard"
than what is supposedly standard exterior to the community.

Just my 2p.  Others may disagree.
