Wanted: instant messenger protocol handler

I'm looking for some Lua code that can talk to one of the major IM
services --- preferably Yahoo, but I can live with one of the others.
(This is for building a chatbot, so code without any GUI dependencies
would be good.)

Does anyone know if such a thing exists? I know about Meetro, but it
appears to be closed-source; I certainly can't find a source download,
or even any licensing information.
