Since you are restarting the Lua/Parrot project at this time, maybe it would be a good idea to use the Lua 5.1 grammar? It's not that different from Lua 5.0. We gained two new operators ('*x' to get the object size and 'x%y' for modulo) and the ellipsis token ('...') is now a valid multi-result expression representing the variable arguments inside a varargs function.
Having still a huge backlog of messages from the Lua list to read, I may have missed something...
But doesn't we have a slightly different syntax for literal strings and block comments? Or has this been dropped? Something like [**[ I can use data like Foo[ar[b]] here! ]**] if I recall correctly.
I should download the latest beta, but currently I am swamped in work (PHP! Java! mmm, LuaJava...) so I lack of time to keep me up to date on Lua news.
