If locale is set to recognise numbers in locale format, Lua stops working,
expecting this to _change language syntax_. Apparently this is a well-known
problem[1,2]. Why has nothing been done about it? This kind of behaviour is
inexcusably brain-damaged, even if doing otherwise would mean having to know
more of the system than ANSI C provides.
You know, there are probably more polite ways to request assistance
from unpaid volunteers than to call them, albeit indirectly,
"inexcusably brain-damaged". (Indeed calling even professionals
you are paying, however directly or indirectly, "inexcusably
brain-damaged" is... well... "inexusably brain-damaged".)
And people wonder why I've mostly distanced myself from software and the people who make it....
