lua 5.1 garbage collection question

Ey List,

read somewhere that 5.1 will be using a different
kind of garbage collection scheme.

please correct me if i'm wrong. 5.0 uses a mark
and sweep garbage collector. 5.1 will be using
what? please expound if possible.
