Libraries with GPL [http://www.fsf.org/licensing/licenses/gpl.html] are
practically useless speaking for me and for most application developers.
As you may or may not know it forces the developers who use your library to
provide the source code for their applications. To me that is a choice that
should remain with the application developer.
I am sure one of the factors that brings new developers to Lua is its
liberal BSD style licensing. FWIW, you may want to consider using LGPL or
better yet BSD style licensing if you want a larger audience for your
library (speculation on my part).
I would NOT have stuck my neck out on this subject had it been for an
application.
