Enhanced table constructors for lua5?

Is it available anywhere ? And if not, could somebody knowledgable port it ?
My game uses it extensively in lua4 and if I am to port it to lua5, I'll
thus need it.

The patch is the one that allows that:
foo =
{
	bar = 3
	baz = 1
	[6] = 7
}

That is, without the "," to separate pairs.
