Nick thanks for the code, I wouldn't have thought to do that, but it 
seems simple enough.

Leszek, thanks, works great! I know that Lua aims to be "bloat-free", 
but this is really a tiny little addition. I hope one of the developers 
of Lua decides to add it to the next version.
