This is interesting, at least to see how binding to a libary is done.

Two notes:
- Like John noticed, unless you don't plan to change it, you should put some
versioning on the name of the file to download. Most open source projects
have name like: pdflib-1.0.0.tar.gz.
Thus, we can easily spot if there have been an update.
Mmm, you should even rename it like luapdflib-1.0.0.tar.gz, I just
downloaded the pdflib-4.0.3.tar.gz, it can be confusing when sitting on the same hard
disk...
- You should have mentioned the binding is for Lua 4.0.
I deduced this by seeing you use the lua_pushusertag function, absent from
the 5.0-work0 release.
It makes sense, of course, the 5.0 version is quite a moving target...

I will try and compile it for Windows, if time permits.

Do you plan to use it to generate Lua documentation?
