3) I am working (lazily) on such a sample, because I felt there is a need
for this, and because I am discovering myself how to do this :-) If I ever
finish it, I will post it either (or both) on my site or/and on the Wiki.

Actually, it is often overlooked, but such an example is shipped with the
source distribution of Lua.
It it called lua.c... I use it as framework for my sample.
The lib sources are also great for learning.
