Hi,

I would like to support strongly the policy of the lua developers to
keep the language small and not to overload it with features and
different syntax variants (though I am German and sometimes have to
struggle with '~', too) . To me, this policy, together with the
strong commitment to backward compatibility and portability is one of
the outstanding features of the package. Basically, it is the reason,
why we have chosen lua as our extension language.
